my fondest memory related to the now-departed king of pop is playing (as in taking on the persona of) bruce springsteen and michael jackson with my friend mike as kids. i would tie a bandanna around my head, and mike would wear one winter glove, and we'd walk around the neighborhood like that.

update
thought i'd write a quick note to say what's been going on lately. i returned safely from the winterpills tour, on a plane from the small airport in chattanooga. i turned 30. i've been writing a bit. i've been fussing around with some electronic music software. spanish for hitchhiking has been practicing and has booked some shows for august. winterpills have played some shows, some without me after i burned my left hand pretty badly, cooking. (all better now.) i've spent a lot of time working on my podcast. i've been listening to afel bocoum (thanks bidwell) and a couple great hip hop mixes (thanks bobby). i've been enjoying the spring/early summer and lots of green vegetables. i've been playing a lot of guitar. especially after the burn; all i wanted to do was fingerpick the washburn acoustic guitar lauren gave me that stands in our dining room.

tour video, me & ben, target
here's a video of me and ben cartel playing some of the keyboards at target in memphis. we met ben and courtney (our friends who make up KaiserCartel) in memphis for a coffee and a visit to target before going our separate ways for a few days. note the high quality of my cell phone's video mode.

tour food: rochester, ny

so i'm currently on tour for 2 weeks with a band i'm in called winterpills. and as a vegan, well, finding good food in strange locations can often be challenging, so i like to take pictures of the good stuff i find. above, a spinach-tofu burger (and beans and an orange crush) from dogtown in rochester, ny, a stop recommended by philip's friend owen, on our way from home toward cleveland. (i'm writing this in louisville, where the venue had a veggie burger on the menu. one additional note, i've made a promise to myself to try not to eat french fries every day of the tour.)
